The Rothaarsteig - also known as the "Path of the Senses" - is a 154-kilometre premium trail that runs along the ridge of the Rothaargebirge hills, linking Brilon in the north of Sauerland with Dillenburg at the foot of the Westerwald. It features unspoilt views, a varied route, its own forest furniture and safe signposting.

Tipp:
The enchanting landscape of the Heinsberger Heide (Haberg Nature Reserve) is an insider tip and an experience for all the senses, especially in the early hours of late summer. In the Schwarzbachtal valley, the varied meadow landscape along the structurally rich stream invites you on a journey of discovery and a refreshing break. For nature lovers of all ages, the limnological trail provides an interesting insight into life in and around the stream.
Our two spa and walking resorts of Oberhundem and Saalhausen or Heinsberg and Milchenbach are ideal for walking on or to the Rothaarsteig. From these towns there are between 4 and 10 kilometres of access paths to the Rothaarsteig, which can also be used for beautiful circular walks.
In the certified quality establishments on the Rothaarsteig© and Wanderbares Deutschland you can expect more than just a hearty snack and a comfortable bed. The quality hosts have adapted to the special needs of hikers and offer individual services ranging from equipment hire to hiking programmes and transfers.
